At the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, HP unveiled two new addition to its line-up of media PCs. Both belonging to the company's Digital Entertainment Center line, the z552 and z555 are powered by Microsoft's Windows XP Media Center Edition and offer novel features such as LightScribe disc labeling and support for ATSC high-definition TV.
Sharing the vast majority of their functionality, both the z552 and the z555 come in black, 17" CE rack form factors with a LCD front display. A front-mounted 9-in-1-carder is joined by a 16x DVD±R/RW double-layer DVD recorder offering DVD playback at 480p resolution. The back conceals 5 video out connectors, including DVI-D, component video, VGA, S-Video and composite video output ports, as well as Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound support via coaxial RCA or optical toslink connections and analog 7.1 pre-amp surround sound.
