According to Samsung, the company is capable of building SSD units with capacities of up to 16 GB whilst maintaining a power consumption rate less than five percent of current hard disk drives.
The company estimated use of its SSD would enable next generation laptops to extend their battery life by more than 10 percent.
Produced in 1.8" and 2.5" form factors, Samsung said its NAND-based SSD weighs less than half that of a comparably sized HDD with performance rates exceeding those of comparably sized hard drives by more than 150 percent.
