Ringtone versions of songs from the entire EMI Music Publishing library -- including titles from Green Day, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Isley Brothers -- will be available for download from the Personalise Skype store starting today.

 

The deal stoked rumors that Skype, which is owned by San Jose-based Web auctioneer eBay, was poised to create a music-download service to rival Apple's popular iTunes. EMI's press release stated that Skype would now be able to ``sell music as downloads'' in addition to ringtones.
