New York, NY - Yahoo Inc. has reportedly declined a request by Google Inc. to provide it more information about the online book search projects. The response comes as Google is gathering evidences in a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against it by a group of publishers and the Authors Guild, AP reported on Thursday.
The lawsuit filed in a New York federal court last year claims that Google violates fair use of practices by not getting proper approval to make copies of books available online.
Google's request for the information may be part of a strategy to demonstrate to the court that the company's plans to provide online access to millions of library books is no different than similar projects involving some of its biggest rivals.
