An
LED lightbar is
familiar to most people by its presence atop emergency vehicles. Since it is
the light bars and sirens that warn people to move out of the way, practically
everybody is familiar with these lights. But less familiar are people with the
fact that there are light bars of highly varying sizes and shapes.
A large
LED lightbar could
be a combination of several lights. There are mega light bars that contain
double lights facing towards the front, double lights facing backwards, a set
of takedown lights for illuminating the vehicle in front, alley lights for
lighting up the side alleys, multicolored internal lights, separate front
facing and back facing lights that can be independently controlled, traffic
guidance lights, and a tail indicator.
While larger
light bars of various designs are being developed, there is equal emphasis on
developing thin low profile
LED
lightbar necessary for undercover operations. Such a light bar
will be extremely thin and mounted on the top of the vehicle with colorless
mounting devices that hug the roof. Since LED lights do not need colored
lenses, these low profile lights will become visible only when it is switched
on. It will get activated instantly and will produce high intensity lights of
the required colors.
While these larger
and smaller light bars mainly find use in emergency vehicles, there are a lot
of non-emergency situations also for which an
LED lightbar is used nowadays.
There is
water proof
LED
lightbar which can be kept immersed in water for a short length
of time without sustaining any damage and will withstand getting splashed by
water every day. The light bars will be coated completely with water proof
material and the connectors also will be fully water proof, with a male
connector and female connector on a bar.
Such light bars are fixed around fountains and are used for user
activated or sound activated water displays.
A water
proof
LED lightbar
will be typically narrow and a bar that is one meter in length will have a
light output of about 240 lumens. Different types of mounting clips will be
available with these waterproof light bars for mounting on a chosen medium.
A slightly
different type of small
LED
lightbar is used for under cabinet lighting and display case
lighting. These are designed to be fixed at different angles to project the
light down and illuminate the counter top, or to project the light up to
provide the indirect lighting necessary for cove lighting. Mounting clips of different types are
available for these cabinet light bars also.
A piranha
LED lightbar is a
light bar where the circuit is enclosed in acrylic. The lights itself will be
atop the acrylic bar. The lights are typically very bright in these light bars
and these are used in a variety of applications. Besides use in cabinets and
display cases, a piranha
LED
lightbar is used in lighting larger spaces like back yards or
gardens or boats, and smaller areas like a dash or deck or display counter.
Now that LED
lights are being used for home lighting as well, there are no limits to the
ways in which an
LED
lightbar can be put to use.
