In the
consumer oriented market of today, once an idea is born or invention is made,
markets are then flooded with the product in different forms and with various
functionalities, that choice often becomes difficult. With a light bar, choice poses
less of a problem because manufactures have come up with light bar patterns to satisfy a very wide range
of customers. All the users have to do is tally the patterns with their needs.
The size of a light bar will be an important consideration with everyone while buying it. Now that small LED light bars with high intensity lights are available in the market, it is better for ordinary sized vehicles to go in for smaller ones since cost and power consumption will be less with a smaller light bar. When mounted on the roof of a vehicle, a small light bar will cause less wind resistance also and this too will translate into better energy efficiency of a vehicle.
However with larger vehicles like trucks, which may itself be carrying other vehicles, a very large light bar, that too both at the front and at the back will be necessary to provide sufficient warning to other vehicles. A smaller light bar atop such vehicles, even though it might emit a lengthy beam, might often lead to other drivers on the road misjudging the size of the vehicle.
For vehicles involved in stealth operations, a small, low profile light bar is a must. There are roof hugging lights bars with barely visible mounts available for this purpose. An important thing to check while buying a low profile light bar is whether its mount is permanent or
temporary. In a vehicle
that is permanently used for undercover operations, a permanent mount will be
the right choice since the light
bar will not have to be mounted afresh every time the vehicle
starts to chase a suspect or go on an investigation mission. For common use
vehicles, a temporary mount will be right choice.
The size of the vehicle and aesthetics of the user can also influence the choice of a light bar. There are light bars that combine in it front end protection as well as light mounting facilities. Here lights are mounted atop the vehicle on the rail bed with clamps. A front mount light bar for trucks will have lights mounted on a black or chrome steel tubing where again the lights of the user's choice can be mounted. Some of these light bars are model specific and most of them are UPS shippable.
